What is a good side dish and marinade for steaks?

December 12th, 2009
-Name not given- asked:

I’m grilling beef steaks tomorrow night for my boyfriend and his father. I’m secretly hoping to wow them both, but I fear I don’t know how to marinade the steaks AND I am unsure of what the side dishes should be! Suggestions with recipes would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. :]

out\-of-the-ordinary Dinner recipes?

December 11th, 2009
princess_83 asked:

I’m in a slump of cooking the same foods within a 2 week time period. I prefer making what I can homemade. Here are the usuals: Fried, grilled or baked (in cream of mush soup) pork chops, HOMEMADE spaghetti (the sauce) with store-bought but fresh refrigerated noodles (so much better and only take 2 min to boil!) Hamburger gravy over mashed potatoes, chicken stir-fry, beef barley soup, homemade chicken noodle, homemade chicken fettucine alfredo, I also have to cook alot of traditional mexican foods since my b/f is hispanic… I don’t need any taco recipes! lol. I love Greek food-gyros-stuffed grape leaves, hummus and pita & tabouli. I love seafood(scallops, shrimp, cod, halibut, salmon, tilapia) but I don’t cook too much fish
I’m hoping I can get some yummy recipes-not so much casseroles please!! More like homemade things(ie: chicken fried steak, beef tri tips…etc)
I’m on a budget so nothing too fancy or with 100 diff ingredients.

I am new to roasting cuts of beef and pork. Suggestions?

December 11th, 2009
teddy asked:

I don’t know much about baking pork, making pot roasts, anything to do with ribs/certain cuts of beef…..any suggestions for a beginner’s foray into roasting meat/pork? I usually just cook chicken, pasta dishes, salads, and stir fries, but it seems much easier to bake slabs of meat, versus preparing multi-step/pot and pan dishes, but I don’t want to overcook the meat, since that would be a expensive mistake. I have started experimenting with precooked ham, porketta roasts, and pork tenderloin. I have done pork chops, and steak as well. That is it, though. Any suggestions for other types of meat, pork, or turkey recipes to prepare in the oven?

Bought Cube Steak instead of Round Steak.can I still use cube steak for my crockpot pepper steak recipe?

December 9th, 2009
Lindsey T asked:

I didn’t read the recipe before buying the ingredients and bought the cube steak instead of round. I have always used round, and it has worked great…but I’m in a pinch and need to know if it will still work. Usually I cut the round steak into strips, and toss with ginger and soy sauce and add peppers and onions and simmer in the crock pot on low all day. I have cube steak all cut up…but when I noticed the meat wasn’t cutting the same as I remembered, I checked the recipe again and lo and behold, i got the wrong meat. Can I still use the cube steak in this recipe? Or will it just fall apart like ground beef?

Cubed Chicken Steak?

December 7th, 2009
waddabunchabologna asked:

I bought a pack of chicken that has been cubed like the beef cube steak you typically purchase at the grocery store. Now I have no clue what to do with it. Does anyone have a good recipe that I can use this meat for?

What is a good recipe to use chunks of beef tenderloin?

December 3rd, 2009
scrabblenut79 asked:

I recently bought a 4 pound whole beef tenderloin. I cut it up into a roast size portion, two steaks, and then I had just less than a pound of “stew meat size” pieces left. I am looking for a recipe that will make the most of the beef tenderloin chunks. I’ve tried allrecipes and food network, and I haven’t found what I’m looking for yet. Any suggestions??
After seeing these answers I should clarify.. this is good tender meat, I am not looking for anything that will cook it to death, like stew or crock pot recipes. The stir-fry and kebob ideas are closer…any more ideas?

Once I had Beef Tips Monterey in a restaurant. It was beef in a creamy sauce with cheese and onions I think, but I have no idea how to make that. Something along those lines is what I am looking for.

Old italian recipe for a hard boiled egg rolled in beef in tomato sauce?

November 29th, 2009
Tumbleweed USA asked:

Trying to find a Italian recipe. It has a hard boiled egg which is rolled in a tenderized round steak, and cooked in tomato sauce. Sounds like Brozoli? Not sure of the name or how to make it.
I am surprised that no one knows the receipe using tenderized round steak. All I remember is it was wonderful.

Best recipe for a Fathers and Sons grilled steak dinner?

November 12th, 2009
gatefan asked:

Folks, I’m talking ’bout a big slab of meat here charred up on a grill, manly man style. What cut of beef would be best / how thick? Would you marinade or dry rub before? How long should it be cooked and tips on perfect char marks would be appreciated. Be creative – best recipe gets the 10 spot!

I can smell the smoke from here! Thanks!
